Japan had entered a business partnership with Toyota Motor Co Ltd and Toyota Motor Sales Co. In July 2000 Toyota Australia announced the integration of Daihatsu Australia's operations with Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, a move designed to strengthen the famous Daihatsu brand while achieving considerable operational synergies.
